 Health First Health Plans invited network to participate in the national Heart/Stroke Recognition Program (HSRP). Recognition is awarded to phsyicians who demonstrate that they meet certain thresholds of delivering key screenings and helping patients manage cardiovascular disease.  At project start, there were 54 Florida physicians with this status on the NCQA website.  There are now 91, with Brevard County extremely well represented.

Vista Health Plan,
in recognition of Florida's significant elderly population who are especially vulnerable to the effects and complications of the flu, implemented a successful initiative including a taskforce with the intent of early identification of members who meet recommendations for flu vaccine, and a process to assure availability and delivery of an adequate supply of vaccine to our providers.

Aetna received accreditation in pharmacy benefit management (PBM) and drug therapy management (DTM) from URAC -- the independent non-profit organization that promotes health care quality through its accreditation and certification programs.  Aetna also celebrated National Children's Dental Health Month by hosting and staffing a series of events around the country including three in the Jacksonville Florida Area.  All three events provided dental screening, cleaning and treatment as well as puppet shows and videos.

Amerigroup's Hip hop for health -- an adolescent physical health focus program using dance for physical fitness -- drew more than 3,000 attendees at a health fair.  In addition, back to school events were held throughout the state.  Working with multiple community partners, 34,000 attendees received school supplies, health education and health screenings.

Wellcare sponsors the 9th Annual Family Cafe Conference for the Disability Community. The conference held on June 8-10, 2007 and hosted by the Family Café is a dynamic statewide event that provides an information-sharing forum for thousands of Floridians with disabilities and their families.

Cigna teamed up with the non-profit organization HopeLab to deliver innovative interventions that improve the health and quality of life of young people with chronic illnesses. Their first joint initiative is to help address the needs of teens and young adults with cancer by offering free of charge HopeLab's ground-breaking Re-Mission(TM) video game

 Amerigroup launched a national advisory board comprised of distinguished community advocates and healthcare experts.  The board is established to advise Amerigroup on the needs of seniors and persons with disabilities.

 United Healthcare,  along with the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society, United Healthcare announced an initiative that will improve patient care by expanding the collection and use of clinical outcomes data for heart rhythm devices by cardiac care facilities, cardiac surgeons, cardiologists and other health care professionals.

Humana launched an integrated Health-and-Wellness Program for Health Plan Members.  The program includes wellness components, with “health coaching”; integrated medical-behavioral health care management; and an employee assistance/work-life program.
